National Foundation to End Child Abuse and Neglect Encourages Survivors to Unite Voices for Change

Denver (Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019) — As headlines capture cases of child abuse, The National Foundation to End Child Abuse and Neglect is reaching out to survivors with a social media campaign encouraging them to share their story. 

 Dozens of abuse survivors have connected with EndCAN since the Foundation launched just two year ago, advocating for more attention to the health, mental health and public health impacts of abuse. 

 “By uniting our voices, we make change possible,” said Lori Poland, executive director for the National Foundation to End Child Abuse and Neglect. “We see that we are not alone.  We can put shame and struggles behind us and live more purposeful lives.”

 Poland is a survivor of child abuse and launched EndCAN along with child abuse expert Richard Krugman, MD. EndCAN believes that by uniting voices, change is possible in a field that has seen little change in more than 50 years. 

 The “We are all survivors” Campaign, designed by Fortnight Collective, reminds us that abuse and neglect impacts all of us. The campaign encourages those who have been abused, those who have witnessed abuse, those who respond to abuse, families of survivors, and all others, to share their story at Share Your Voice on endcan.org.

EndCAN seeks to change the way child abuse and neglect is addressed by changing the perception of child abuse and neglect in our country by focusing on the health, mental health and public health issues of abuse. EndCAN helps survivors, thrivers and transcenders of abuse by uniting voices. The Foundation works with others to expand funding for research, training, prevention and advocacy.
