About Beyond the Jargon
An enormous amount of time, money, effort, and good intentions goes into scientific research. But all too often the results aren’t shared – or effectively communicated – with those beyond the ivory tower of academia. The goal of Beyond the Jargon is to make academic research more accessible to a wider audience. Host Karen Albright engages listeners in a series of conversations designed to translate scientific research and to explore from a data-driven perspective the impacts of child abuse on our psychological, family, health care, criminal justice, and social systems.
Dr. Karen Albright
Karen Albright, PhD, is Associate Professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and a Senior Scientist at OCHIN, a nonprofit health care innovation center focused on health equity. Her research centers primarily on social determinants of health, and includes numerous studies focused on children and the dys/functionality of the systems who serve them. A social scientist, Karen is committed to the dissemniation and translation of research to advance both the scholarly and public good. As the host of Beyond the Jaron, she aspires to engage listeners in conversations that will help them understand child abuse and neglect from a data-driven perspective. She seeks to make academic research more accessible to a wider audience as she explores the impact of child abuse and its reverberations throughout our psychological, family, health care, criminal justice, and social systems.
